The Green Slaad: An Inn In Hull Ward

The Green Slaad: A Tidy Little Inn in Hull Ward

An meaty paw reaches down and pulls open the heavy ironbound door you were just shouldering aside. The half-ogre bouncer greets you with a cheery wave.

At each end of the room, a stone hearth blazes warmly. A low, thin haze of pipe smoke fills the air. That’s normal enough.

SAROYA, AFTER HER ATTEMPTED ASSASSINATION AT THE CAULDRON

House Bluestrike

Location: Merchant Ward
Famous members: Oriana Valtova, Grimshaw Shadowplank
Leader:  Osdryn Bluestrike
Trappings: None

The oldest of all of the houses, Bluestrike was formed in -350 FR by the wealthy elven founders of Aventine. Bluestrike is a house of merchants and sailors. They comprise most of the Camadan merchant marine. Shrewd businessmen and explorers, Bluestrike can be found in most major cities around the world. Bluestrike is by far the wealthiest house in Camadan.

House Highfury

Location: Axiat
Famous members: Gart, Angus Bloodstone, Marta Valtova
Leader: Bataar Highfury
Trappings: A brooch or pin with a crossed sword and axe overtop a shield

House Highfury formed out of war with Fel House. Kragen Highfury united the other houses against the necromancers, eventually defeating them at the battle of Swords’ Cross in Aventine itself.

This house is both martial and pragmatic. They form alliances as they feel necessary to preserve the balance between all houses. They have financial interests in the Aventine docks, maintenance of the city walls and most of the military infrastructure. Most of the highest officers in the Aventine military come from House Highfury, although they have to surrender house affiliation when they assume their posts.

House Drace

Location: The Docks
Artisan’s guild of Camadan
Famous members: Artemis Hasp
Leader: A foul-mouthed gnome named Parwairt
Trappings: Blue Apron With The Aventine Crest

Iridian Drace founded this house in FR –150, although rumors trace its roots back to the earliest dwarven kingdoms of Essedria.

Craftsmen to a one, House Drace is smaller than most. Their members do everything from building ships and creating armor to laying pavers and working on the city walls. They do more complex projects under the city as well.

The Sicaari

Location: Unknown
Famous members: Gritch
Leader: Ma’ayaat
Trappings: None

Not exactly a house: A guild of assassins often employed by other houses. Possibly controlled by Belos. No one has their original name, opting instead for monikers they adopt when inducted.

House Belos

Location: Hull Ward
Crime syndicate of Camadan.
Famous members: Tasha Quan, Panovar Flynt, Marceline
Leader: Tasha Quan
Trappings: Gray cloaks

Started in –250 Fall Reckoning by Eldari Belos, House Belos oversees “legitimate” crime in Aventine and throughout the kingdom of Camadan. The House is particularly influential in Aventine. Belos is key to the smooth flow of commerce within and through the walls upon which city depends.

Belos does what the city guard cannot: They keep crime organized, protecting citizens from turf wars and violent crime while managing an appropriate level of graft and larceny.

House Belos does not sit on the council, but makes their wishes known via proxies and communication with the other houses.

Hull Ward

Hull Ward is the oldest neighborhood in Aventine. The first city walls were built using stone quarried in Dirion, far up the Ibril. Once the stones arrived, the workers used the upturned hulls of the great river barges to build their homes. Soon, shops and taverns sprang up around them, and Hull Ward was born.
